Snacks: Chocolate Brownies

Now I have your attention. Mmmm Chocolate. This one is an idea inspired by my mom-in-law (Thanks!). There's tons of ways to make a standard box cake mix lower in fat and calories. My favorite substitute.... Greek Yogurt! Surprised?

In this photo, I used No Pudge Fat Free Brownie Mix. You can also use any brand of Devil's Food Cake mix. Both recipes are shown below.

Mom-in-law shared this website:
http://www.hungry-girl.com/newsletters/raw/1543
It lists a few other things to add to cake mixes. All are interesting ideas that I'd like to try. The pumpkin idea sounds like a spot hitter, especially around Thanksgiving.

Better Chocolate Brownies
(makes 12 servings)
(about 120 calories per serving)

1 package No Pudge Fat Free Brownie mix
3/4 cup non-fat Greek Yogurt
1 egg white

1. Mix ingredients and pour into an 9x13 pan.

2. Bake 30mins at 350 degrees

3. Enjoy!

You can also use the following:
This idea is featured in the website above. I believe one serving is about 180 calories. The increase is because standard box mixes are usually larger, so it's a bigger serving.

Also, even though it is a Cake mix, it will come out more like brownies because there's no eggs added to make it fluffy. Add an egg white if you're looking for a fluffier texture.

1 package Devil's Food Cake Mix
1 cup Greek Yogurt

1. Mix ingredients and pour into an 8x8 pan.

2. Bake 30 - 35 mins at 350 degrees

3. Enjoy!
